FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
1. HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE TYPICALLY IN A CLASS?
In our recreational program, the class size ranges between 4-12 dancers. For our younger recreational dancers, we have an assistant in the class to help the students.
2. HOW IS MY CHILD PLACED IN A CLASS?
When the student is placed in a class, age and ability is the initial considerations when placing a student. We understand that every student responds to classes differently. Our one main requirement for the students when placing them in a class is that the dancer is comfortable and confident in the class they pick.
3. IS THERE A DRESS CODE?
We do ask that all dancers come to class in fitted attire (tank top, yoga pants, leggings for example). For our hip-hop dancers, we allow baggy/loose clothing during class. For all dance classes, we do ask that everyone has their hair pulled back and secure out of their face.
4. HOW DO YOU COMMUNICATE WITH PARENTS?
Our primary way of communication is via email. A secondary way of communication is via phone call in urgent times.
5. WHAT DOES THE COST INCLUDE AND WHAT ADDITIONAL COSTS CAN I EXPECT?
For all dancers, the seasonal fee covers the cost of your child's instruction for the months of September through May. In additional costs includes a costume for each class that your dancer is enrolled in. A shoe list is also sent out upon registration. The proper required shoes will be highlighted and it will be the responsibility of the parent/guardian to purchase the shoes from a dance apparel store.
For our competitive dancers: the parent/guardian is responsible for payment of any competition entry fees.
6. IF MY CHILD IS NOT ABLE TO ATTEND THE CLASS THEY REGISTERED FOR, IS THERE A REFUND?
If a student is unable to attend class(es), no refund will be permitted to any prior payments made to Step Above Dance Academy. If a lockdown occurs due to COVID-19 during the 2022-2023 season, any payments made for the duration of the lockdown will be directed to the 2023-2024 season.
